40 Years for Man Charged with Rape and Kidnapping

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. – A Hattiesburg man has been sentenced on charges of rape, aggravated assault, grand larceny, and kidnapping and will spend the next 40 years behind bars. Cameron Eatmon, 20, will have no chance at parole.

Authorities say in 2012 Eatmon carjacked a woman at a stop sign. He got out of the stolen truck he was driving and jumped into the back seat of her car (she had just left the midnight showing of the Dark Knight Rises). At gunpoint he forced her to a house under construction, where he sexually assaulted her. Later, the victim was dropped off at another street and shot twice in the leg and abdomen. The victim was able to make it out alive and contact authorities. Eatmon was arrested hours later.
