UNION COUNTY, Miss.--A shotgun was used in the latest bald eagle shooting in Mississippi and it seems now as if there's been a rash. It's just the third such shooting over the past few months, but it begs the question "why?" It's a criminal act and an attack on a majestic bird that symbolizes America.
Wildlife officials believe this bird was shot in mid January. Its injuries were so severe that it had to be put down.
Now there's a $7,500 reward for info leading to the arrest of whomever is responsible.
Other bald eagle shootings:
Neshoba County in December. That eagle survived the shooting but later had to be euthanized.
Stone County in mid-January. The eagle survived its injuries.
