American Family Association Files Lawsuit on Obamacare Mandates

TUPELO, Miss—The American Family Association filed a lawsuit in Mississippi Wednesday aimed at taking down an Obamacare provision employers would be mandated to offer their employees.
That lawsuit against the federal government has specifically to do with a certain part of the insurance mandates under Obamacare that the AFA morally disagrees with.
“Included in that coverage is birth control and abortion inducing drugs,” said Jeff Mateer who is general counsel on this lawsuit.
The AFA would be one of thousands of companies that have over 50 employees and would be forced to offer such coverage.
“As a religious ministry the AFA objects to providing abortion inducing drugs to its employees,” he said. “The Obama Administration dwarfs previous administrations in its egregious disrespect for the religious liberty rights of para-church ministries, like the AFA.”
If the lawsuit is successful Mateer said it would only affect employers with religious and faith-based ties that don’t already get this exemption like churches.
“The lawsuit it seeking to have that provision of Obamacare unconstitutional.”
The timeframe for a solution to the matter is probably months away according to Mateer and eventually will probably end up in the Supreme Court.
