Arrest Made After Christmas Eve Murder

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Authorities have arrested a suspect in the Christmas Eve murder of a Hattiesburg man.
 
Chance Nicolas Smith, 19, of Brookhaven is charged with murder. He spent last night behind bars after he was arrested Christmas day. 
 
The victim, 22-year-old Elester Sartin Jr., was shot at an apartment complex in around 8 p.m. Monday and was pronounced dead from his injuries at a Forrest hospital.
 
According to WDAM neither the victim or the suspect lived at the apartment complex.
