COVINGTON COUNTY, Miss.-- Over the weekend a Covington County lady was murdered in what is still causing investigators to ask a lot of questions that still don't have answers.
Fifty-five year old Blanche Lott was killed by her boyfriend Frank Del Garza in her home there Saturday, according to police.
When questioned about a motive Covington County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Kelly said that was something police still have yet to determine.
“At this time we don’t have a motive for the killing. We don’t know of any dispute that the two might have had and Ms. Lott was a well-respected lady in the community.”
If the story ended there it would be a tragedy in its own right, but the plot thickened hours after police say Del Garza killed Lott.
“Evidence at the crime-scene led us to believe he had taken her car and fled to Texas where he has family,” added Deputy Kelly.
According to Kelly the sheriff’s department alerted authorities in the county Del Garza was thought to be headed and it didn’t take long to locate the then stolen vehicle near a cemetery.
Sadly, Del Garza was found dead next to where his parents are buried in that cemetery in Edenburg, Texas.
Kelly said, “It appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot would that killed him but we still don’t know why it led to this.”
With both victim and suspect now dead the case has taken that much of a harder turn Kelly acknowledged.
“We will have to wait for the autopsy reports to come back now to see if we can further the investigation, but now we’re just waiting and gathering evidence.”
