Body Found in Miss. Sound Identified

GULFPORT, Miss.--Samuel Begner came to Mississippi for a little adventure, but he will not be returning to his Atlanta home. The body of the 36-year-old was discovered by a fisherman checking crab pots about 9 a.m. Wednesday. It was near a fishing pier in the Mississippi Sound.

Coroner Gary Hargrove told media Thursday that dental records were being used to get a positive ID. Begner's car had been discovered parked near the beach, with an inflatable two-man kayak missing from its box. Hargrove said the cause of death was drowning and it happened Sunday.

Begner came to Biloxi to visit casinos. His family reported him missing and when authorities checked the tag on his car and discovered who it belonged two, they were able to put two and two together once the body was discovered.
