Bryan was one of three lawmakers who attended a legislative meeting of the Miss. Assoc. of Superintendents. Following the meeting, Executive Director Sam Bounds told the TV station that he feels public education in the state is improving and the state should fully fund MAEP and other initiatives.
Some of the proposed 2013 legislation includes charter schools and performance-based pay for teachers, both backed by Gov. Phil Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves. Bryant has said, when introducing the performance-based pay plan, that the upcoming session will have education as a focus.
