PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss.--Your kids may be just a bit safer today as a child pornography conviction sent 48-year-old Paul Dybas to prison for 15 years. The sentence came Friday in Harrison County Circuit Court.
Attorney Gen. Jim Hood told us the Pass Christian man had thousands of images of children in lewd or sexual poses on his computer. He was tracked down by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, with help from the Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.
The judge sentenced Dybas to 40 years, with 15 to serve and an order to register as a sex offender upon his release.
Hood said the judge told Dybas at the sentencing that Dybas has a serious addiction that cause her great concern.
"We appreciate Judge Dodson taking such a strong stance on this sentencing," said Hood. "A child is abused every single time a picture is downloaded and viewed. We will lock up those who victimize our children."
