COLUMBUS, Miss.--Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt was expected to issue a statement Monday about his Thursday arrest on a DUI charge. He has thus far not spoken in detail about what happened when he was pulled over and arrested in Lowndes County on Hwy. 82.
His bond was set at $1,075, according to TV station WCBI. He posted bond and is free today. He told the station he would make a statement to media regarding the arrest.
The station also reported Hunt was in a personal vehicle when the arrest was made.
The Oktibbeha County website says Hunt has been coroner for 17 years. He is a pre-med graduate from the University of Alabama and serves as director of emergency medical services for Oktibbeha County. He is a member of the board of directors of the North Mississippi Trauma System and was named Coroner of the Year in 2006.
