CLINTON, Miss.-- An apartment fire ruined the holidays for at least two tenants at the Hunter Oaks apartment complex off Highway 80.
According to officials and witness the fire started around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday and quickly spread to the roof.
One witness to the fire who lives next door said, "When I came outside about 5 o'clock I saw flames coming out of the building on the side."
Luckly no one was injured in the blaze.
"They had already gotten everybody out of the unit [when the fire grew] and everyone was pretty much standing and watching," added the neighbor.
The fire department showed up shortly after it was called in but the witness gave her opinion as to why the fire spread quickly.
"It was fully engulfed and they came without a truck with a ladder and I thought if they brought a truck with a ladder they could have gotten above the fire."
She explained the fire spread mainly through he middle part of the building up high and that's why the fire fighters had a tough time putting the blaze in her opinion.
Nothing but charred remains of the fully furnished apartments remained on scene today as cleanup crews were already on the scene.
No cause has yet been determined and the investigation is still ongoing.
