COLUMBIA, Miss.--At least twenty-three people clogged the Marion County Jail this weekend as the Narcotics Task Force there made mass arrests. The Marion County Sheriff’s Dept. and Columbia Police told News Mississippi that the arrests were the result of a year-long investigation.
Not only were there plenty of drug dealers arrested, but some people were charged with non-drug-related offenses, including dog fighting.
The arrest sheet lists Shaun Barnes as being charged with ownership of a dog with intent to enter into a fight. That’s in addition to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. His bond is set at $55,000.
The arrest sheet also lists Rayshun Whiteside being charged with armed robbery. He got no bond.
At least 11 of those popped were charged with selling drugs near a church or school.
The bonds were generally high, with no one getting bail under $25,000 and some being granted no bond at all.
