VICKSBURG, Miss.--Twenty-eight-year-old Mardy Blackmore is dead, shot once in the chest sometime between Saturday night and 6:30 Sunday morning, when his body was found behind a Vicksburg apartment complex on Lake Hill Drive. Cops told media the man was shot once in the chest.
A neighbor made the discovery. Family told police they last saw Blackmore Saturday night when he was headed to a nearby building to visit with friends.
WLBT reported Monday morning that 39-year-old Christopher Glen Polk was charged with murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Police were also on the lookout for Tamares "Blinky" Dillion. He's wanted on a murder warrant. Police said they believed Blackmore was shot inside Polk's apartment, then moved outside. They had no motive.
In an unrelated case in Hazlehurst, a Sunday mirder was likely the result of an on-going family argument. The city's first murder of the year happened when other folks were getting ready for church about 9 Sunday morning. Fifty-three-year-old Lee-Ray Shannon was found shot in the back after neighbors heard gunshots and called police.
The man's nephew, 22-year-old Dominique Shannon, was arrested and charged with murder. WAPT reports the two had been involved in an argument before the shooting, perhaps going back several days.
