Parchman, Miss.-- Several sources are now reporting that escaped inmate, Michael Dowda, from the Mississippi State Penitentiary has been captured.
His four day saga came to an end late last night and in the early morning hours of Tuesday at 12:30 a.m. in Macon, Ga. by U.S. Marshals.
Officials have said Dowda escaped his maintenance work detail on Saturday afternoon driving a Chevrolet Silverado truck and has been on the run ever since. Those same reports have said he was in possession of at least two handguns from an MDOC employee's home.
Dowda is serving a life sentence for killing his girlfriend in Harrison County in 1998 after a conviction.
WLOX has reported that this isn't the first time Dowda has escaped custody, and fourteen years ago he was on the loose also and charged with escaping.
He will now face extradition back to Mississippi on multiple charges.
As of the writing of this article MDOC has yet to release a statement pertaining to details of Dowda's arrest.
