MDOT Donates Over 3,000 Socks to Children's Hospital

JACKSON, Miss – The Mississippi Department of Transformation (MDOT) presented the results of their annual driver for the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital Thursday morning. Their statewide driver, “Socks for the Soul,” netted 3,376 socks for children at the hospital.

“Socks are one of the things that most parents forget to pack. When you are packing to go to the hospital you make sure that you have your child’s favorite toy, favorite blanket, but frequently when you get here the hospital is a lot colder than we would like it to be, you will think, oh no I forgot socks,” Says Terri Gillespie, Chief Nursing Officer at Batson.

Gillespie tells me socks of all shapes and sizes were donated so they will be able to fit the feet of all the children that are taken care of at the hospital.
