Jackson, Miss.-- The Mississippi alligator season has come to an end this week and hunters all over the state had a successful hunt.
With the season only ten days long, time was very limited for hunters to get out and bag a scaly monster but that doesn't seem to have slowed down the harvest numbers.
MDWFP WIldlife Bureau Assistant Director Chad Dacus says there were,"Multiple, multiple ten-plus footers" killed.
He also tells News Mississippi that over 375 alligators were taken during the ten-day period, and that number is expected to grow as more people report their kills.
The relatively young Mississippi alligator season has been a big hit with hunters in-state.
Dacus added, "The Internet has been flooding with people and pictures of big alligators."
The season was from September 7-17 in select Mississippi waters.
