GUNTOWN, Miss.--Three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon are the charges against 38-year-old Phillip Hobgood of Booneville in a wreck that sent three people, including himself, to the hospital Wednesday.
Guntown Police Chief Michael Hall to media that Hobgood was released from a Tupelo hospital Wednesday and held at the Lee County Jail after the wreck, that happened just before 5 p.m. Wednesday in both lanes of Hwy. 45.
The reason he was detained-Hall said a witmess saw the accident and believed Hobgood deliberately used his truck to run a vehicle carrying 76-year-old Henry Fanning and a female passenger off the road. When their vehicle flipped accross the median, it struck another SUV in the opposite lane. Fanning, his passenger and Hobgood ended up in the hospital.
A court appearance for Hobgood was set for Friday.
