That will give Republicans 65 members in the House of Representatives, according to a news release.
The switch comes in a banner year for state Republicans. Earlier in the year several Democrats publicly made the switch at the state's Republican Party headquarters. The group included judges and sheriffs.
At that time Leake County Sheriff Greg Waggoner told us he made the switch becuase he disagreed with parts of the Democrat Party's national platform, which included advocating same-sex marriage.
State Democrat head Ricky Cole blamed the Republican takeover in the House, Senate and governor's mansion on a lack of organization for the state's Democrats, among other reasons.
