Mississippi Church Receives Support from Car Plant to Aid Sandy Victims

JACKSON, Miss. – The Nissan Plant in Canton has joined a local Mississippi faith based effort to provide relief to Hurricane Sandy Victims on the east coast.

Dan Bednarzyk, vice president and manager of the plant says faith based efforts were the first to support Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. “So we remember the help that Mississippi received, so today it’s really our chance to return the favor that was shown to us.”

In the effort the plant has donated $20,000 and vehicle support to New Hope Baptist Church. Meanwhile members of the church and other individuals in the community have provided donations of blankets, clothing, batteries, diapers, and other personal items to send to Hurricane Sandy victims.
