JACKSON, Miss. -- Your teenagers have already picked who they want to be America’s next President.
“And I will tell you historically, students have been right in who they voted for,” said Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, who announced the results of a student mock election at the Old Capital Museum in Jackson today.
“In the mock election, President Barack Obama (D) received 56,071 ballots; and Governor Mitt Romney (R) received 45,031 ballots,” he said.
Hundreds of students were at the Old Capital to hear the results and to talk with Hosemann about the voting process. He encouraged them to continuing voting and to talk with their parents about the importance of voting too.
More than 100,000 teenagers from 542 schools statewide participated in the mock election.
