JACKSON, Miss.—Have you started seeing more and more of the newer car tags on the roads in Mississippi lately?
Well you aren’t the only one. About 1/3 of all drivers in the state now have the new tag that started being issued in October 2012.
“The law requires that we change the image every five years,” said Government Liaison Kathy Waterbury.
If you look closely at the new tags the guitar in the middle of the picture becomes clear.
Waterbury said, “It is a depiction of Lucille, a little nod to blues legend BB King.”
King, of course, became famous for playing his famous guitar he named “Lucille.”
“The plate is celebrating Mississippi’s musical and cultural heritage,” she said.
If you don’t have the new tag yet, the next time you renew your sticker on the plate you’ll be issued a new one.
