New developments in a missing person’s case out of Copiah County

COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. -- Police don’t think Linda Reed is missing.  They think she is on the run with her boss’ money.

“We have determined that (Moore’s Fabrications’) 2010 petty cash has come up short approximately $20,000.  Not necessarily short, but unaccounted for,” said Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones.

Reed worked for the company as a bookkeeper; and Jones says he believes she acted alone.  “She was the one in command and control of that money.

Now the search for her takes a different turn.  “We have upgraded Mrs. Reed status from missing to wanted for embezzlement,” said Jones.

Reed was last seen in April.  Jones says he believes she is still alive, but does not know where she might be.
Family members despute the recent allegations, saying Reed would never steal nor run off and leave them.
