CLEVELAND, Ohio--U.S. Rep. Alan Nunelee, of Mississippi, is recovering today in a Cleveland hospital after elective heart surgery. A spokesman from Nunelee's camp confirmed the surgery Tuesday to media. 

The Commerical Appeal in Memphis reports the 54-year-old Congressman had surgery to correct a problem he has had since he was a child.

Nunelee is expected to be back at work soon. Congress is trying to work out a deal with the White House to avoid going off the "Fiscal Cliff" and Nunelee, who represents north Mississippi, said he expects to be back before any vote on the matter.
