CLAY COUNTY, Miss.--Rep. David Gibbs resignation from the Mississippi House has been rescinded. Gibbs resigned Tuesday, just as the House gaveled in, citing health concerns. But, a letter from his family later in the week requested that resignation be reversed, by request of Gibbs.
After some research it was found that Gibbs resignation letter never reached the Secretary of State's office, and was never made official, though it was read on the House floor by Speaker Phillip Gunn.
For now, it appears that Gibbs, a Democrat who has represented parts of Clay and Lowndes counties for over 20 years, will retain his seat.
