JACKSON, Miss.—Mississippi and severe weather are synonymous when spring rolls around each year.
The strong storms that moved through the area on Monday caused a lot of damage to vehicles and homes.
Kirk McDaniel of Farm Bureau says the time to think about such plans is before accidents happen.
“Know your coverage,” he said. “If you need to talk to your insurance agent about that to find out what kind of coverage you have, do that.”
McDaniel says they’ve been very busy in the last 24 hours since the baseball size hail pummeled the greater Jackson area. He says people are smart to call in and get the facts from an agent.
“Ask him or her if you have that coverage [related to weather accidents].”
One thing he pointed out is to always have your information in a safe place.
“They’re going to ask you for your policy number,” said McDaniel.
Now most insurance companies have online login websites where all relevant information can be safely stored and found. The policy number according to McDaniel is the most important thing to have if all is lost.
