JACKSON, Miss.--Hail the size of quarters, wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph and dangerous ground to cloud lightening are all possible today as a storms system moves through the state and sets Mississippi up for a rainy weather pattern.

The greatest threat for severe storms is in the southern and south western part of the state, but the likelihood that everyone will get rain means an umbrella wouldn't be a bad idea.

Rainfall in some places could be as much as two inches begore the bulk of the rain moves out for Friday night and Saturday, though some rain will stick around into Saturday in south Mississippi. That means flash flooding is also a possibility, as is further river flooding.

As far as tornadoes, the main threat is in south Mississippi, but everyone should be on the lookout, as the cause of the severe weather threat is unstable air and wind shear, which is not isolated.
