WAYNE COUNTY, Miss.--Students were still out of school Tuesday after a fire at Clara School engulfed much of the K-8 facility Sunday. An investigation was underway to determine if the fire was set intentionally.
Fire Dept. spokesman Joseph John Dunlap called the fire "massive".
"We had 14 different fire stations from within the county and 68 firefighters on scene," he said. It took the crews about four hours to get the blaze out. Some buildings were saved, while others critical to holding classes were lost.
The fire was not the first. There was another one as recently as two weeks ago, and it was intentional, said Dunlap.
"There's no word as to what caused the fire at the present time. (Two weeks ago) Someone had set a fire in one of the flower beds around the school."
The Wayne County School District website said students who attend the k-8 school would return Wednesday in a different location. High school students were not affected.

Omg that is so awful, Makes me cry
Oh No! I can't believe this. So sad! Keep me posted on what's going on down there. Heartbreaking.
I am so very sad about this.... I was in the first kindergarten class of Clara. I feel like a part of my history is gone.
One of those Facebook posts indicated the auditorium and lower hall were total losses. Many who posted believed the fire had been intentionally set.
