You Can Go Home Again

TOUGALOO, Miss. -- Tougaloo College Monday welcomed home the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.

“It’s the epicenter for the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi; and these men and women spent so much time here,” said Tougaloo College President Beverly Hogan.

“We could come here to strategize,” said VMCRM Chairman Hollis Watkins.  “As students, we could get involved in demonstrations across the state and not be threaten of being suspended or expelled from school.”
Those veterans now have their own office on the campus of the HBCU.  They plan to document and tell their stories of the Civil Rights Movement through forms, round table discussions and worships on the campus.
