BILXOI, Miss. -- Your money cannot be found. The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) says Four Million dollars is unaccounted. According to the SunHerald, your money has not been spent wisely at the DMR; around $3,800 dollars was spent on embroidered fishing shirts. The department made similar purchases on T-shirts, golf towels, and key chains. Employees racked up around $55,000 on the company credit card. The department also spent thousands of dollars on seafood for conventions and promotional events.
Former Director Bill Walker was fired in January for his spending practices. Interim Director Danny Gucie has been sorting though financial records. An ongoing investigation by State Auditors office and FBI continues.
