PARCHMAN, Miss.--Michael Dowda is on the run, possibly has a vehicle and is considered armed and dangerous. The 48-year-old was last seen at 3 p.m. Saturday. A news release from the Miss. Dept. of Corrections says he likely stole a white 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup from prison grounds.
The truck bears a Yalbousha County license plate and a disability tag.
Dowda is a white male, 5 ft. 11, 195 lbs., brown eyes, brown hair and a large build, according to the MDOC website. He was last seen wearing stripes-green and white pants and a white MDOC-issued t-shirt.
Dowda was serving a life sentence for the 1996 murder of his girlfriend in Harrison County. The Sun Herald reports he shot Clarissa Lynn Jarrett once in the head with a .380 caliber pistol and buried her body in a shallow grave. He was caught in Las Vegas three months later. Dowda was convicted and sentenced in 1998.
