Jackson, Miss.-- While prices around the country are still relatively high, the average price per gallon in the state fell slightly over the weekend.
Mississippians are still second out of the fifty states for cheapest gas at $3.53/gallon just fractions of a cent more expensive than South Carolina.
Correspondent Trilby Lundberg says,"This new report ends a big prices increase. We have seen over eight weeks a jump of 43 cents per gallon."
The average around the country for a gallon of gas is $3.83/ gallon which is well over the Mississippi average.
The big question now is will gas continue to drop steadily?
"It will depend on what crude oil prices do next because they are the king of all impacts on gasoline prices. If crude oil prices allow, we may see some substanstial declines at the pump," says Lundberg.
The survey Lundberg is referring to has Jackson, Miss. as the lowest price per gallon city on the survey at $3.52/gallon.
