ITTAWAMBA, Miss.--A big marijuana bust was made in northeast Mississippi Monday night. MDOT says their officers stopped a tractor-trailer rig as it was headed east, possibly out of the state at the Hwy. 78 inspection station in Ittwamba.
The driver, 56-year-old Arthur Leon Seibles, Sr., of South Carolina told the officers his rig was empty.
Officers searched the truck and found that was not the case. They found six boxes of pot, wrapped in plastic. They weighed about 175 lbs. and are estimated to be worth worth about $174,000 on the street.
Seibles is in jail in Ittawamba County, charged with possession of marijuana. MDOT says their officers and the Miss. Bureau of Narcotics are trying to determine where Seibles may have been taking the pot.
This is from an MDOT news release:
Chief Willie Huff, MDOT Director of Enforcement, stated, “I am very proud of our officers and their diligence. We must continue our vigilance for all types of contraband before it reaches our streets or impacts our Homeland Security.”
