FEMA Deadline Approaching for Disaster Registration

GULFPORT, Miss.--Some counties that had Disaster Recivery Centers that were open to help Mississippians affected by Isaac to register with FEMA were set to see those centers close Wednesday. FEMA Spokesperson Patricia Witt named those counties.

"MEMA and FEMA will be closing DRCs in Adams, Clark, George, Hinds, Pearl River and Wilkinson counties," she said.

Witt said, though, that if you were affected by Hurricane Isaac and you still need to register and you live in those counties, you can go online to www.disasterassistance.gov or you can call their toll-free number at 1 (800) 621-FEMA. She said the number is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Witt says there is a deadline and it is fast-approaching.

"Individuals and businesses who were affected by Hurricane Isaac have until Oct. 31. That is the final registration deadline."
