Motion Filed to Continue Sentencing in Hate Crime

JACKSON, Miss.--Forty-seven-year-old James Craig Anderson died in June of 2011 when he was run over by a truck. Now Jackson TV stations are reporting that fedral prosecutors have filed a motion to continue sentencing for the three held responsible so far.

Sentencing was set for October on federal charges for Deryl Dedmon, Dylan Butler and John Aaron Rice. They were convicted on federal hate crime charges in the death, which occured outside a Jackson motel. Anderson was black. The three teens who await sentencing are white.

Prosecutors believe four others may have been involved or may have at least been present when the crime happened.
