WEST POINT, Miss.--Hwy. 82 is the main four-lane for east to west travel from Arkansas to Alabam and MDOT tells us that a portion of the highway will see some lane closures due to bridge repair.
It's the Old West Poit Rd. Bridge. We are told that there is a damaged beam and other parts will also have to be repaired. That means crews will be closing lanes on the following schedule:
Key Constructors, Inc. began work on Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. and have temporarily closed one eastbound lane of Highway 82. This single-lane closure may be in place through the life of the project.
On Thursday, September 27 at midnight, both eastbound lanes will be closed and reopened in 30 minute increments.
One of the eastbound lanes will be opened at 5 a.m. and operated under a single-lane closure until midnight.
Beginning at midnight on Friday, September 28, both lanes will be closed in 30 minute intervals until 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
MDOT regrets any inconveniences these closures may cause.
