You Can Help Change Mississippi, Over Dinner.

Governor Phil Bryant has declared this Racial Reconciliation Month here in Mississippi.
Mission Mississippi is urging residents to celebrate by getting to know someone of a different race.  “Have dinner together, or a picnic, visit other churches,” said the group’s President, Neddie Winters.  “All those kinds of activities help bring us forward, and allow us to overcome the pain of the past.”

Mission Mississippi has planned several other activities this month to help you get started.

On October 9th and 11th, local Jackson restaurants will host Two and Two Together Restaurant Days.  This annual activity is designed to encourage racially diverse groups to enjoy a meal together at local restaurants.  Participating restaurants offer a 22% discount to those who participate, but you must remember to mention Mission Mississippi’s Two and Two Together Restaurant Days to receive the discount.
The Group’s Annual Racial Reconciliation Celebration Banquet will be held October 25, at 7 pm at the Jackson Convention Complex.  This year, Mission Mississippi will honor Dr. Ollye Shirley of Jackson and Mr. Jack Reed, Sr. of Tupelo.
