The 7th annual Otherfest this Saturday in Rosedale, Mississippi. This is the delta's only music festival that features original, independent music from regional and local artist.
"We have 17 bands on two separate stages. We also have two short independent short films from regional directors," says Otherfest Event coordinator William "Weegie" Rodgers.
The bands this year are from all over.
"We have a band from Virginia this year, a Chicago band. We normally have a couple Jackson bands, several from Cleveland. We have a band from Little Rock, and Fayetteville Arkansas, and of course some bands Tuscaloosa, Alabama."
Weggie tells me you can expect a real festival experience at Otherfest
"As the night goes on, it gets darker, people get a little bit loose, the bands get louder. At the end of the night you can throw up a tent, and camp out. Do whatever you want to do that’s legal… anyway."
Weggie tells me the two acts you need to watch out for this year are folk rock artist Adam Faucett from Little Rock, Arkansas and the indie country rock band These United States who have been featured in SPIN magazine and have played at the Lolipalooza festival in Chicago.
The fest starts this Saturday Oct. 6 at 1p.m. and goes through the night to 1a.m. at the River Resort in Rosedale Mississippi.
