JACKSON, Miss.-- The colder theme from the weekend will remain for at least the early portions of this work-week.
Rain has continued to move through the northern half of the state early this morning but will be moving out of the area for most areas for the morning commute.
Even after the rain clears the area, it isn't going to warm up too much in Mississippi.
Meteorologist Ed Agre said, "Temperatures will top out today in the 60's and maybe some 70's in the southern parts of the state below Hattiesburg to Gulfport."
And after the rain, there doesn't look to be a rainbow, only cooler temperatures for the evening hours.
Agre added, "Tonight should be clear and rather chilly with low's in the mid to low-40's across the region, and then on Tuesday will be mostly sunny with highs a little bit warmer."
In true Mississippi fashion, the weather won't remain the same too long this week. Each progressive day the mercury should rise until the 80's are reading again on most thermometers by Friday.
