PEARL, Miss. -- Two Bassfield city workers are accused of betraying your trust.
State Auditor Stacy Pickering said the two purchased more than $309,000 worth of trailers, farm equipment and other items from the State Surplus Property office for about $52,000.
“Basically they were reselling it to friends, family and other individuals,” said Pickering at a Tuesday press conference to announce the recovery of the items.
“As for the two individuals that were the targets of this investigation, they will be held accountable,” he added. “We have turned the case over. And we are working with the District attorney and other possible prosecutors.”
Pickering would not give the worker’s names or comment on their ongoing criminal investigation.
