DECATUR, Miss. -- You know the big announcement From East Central Community College was coming today.  Well, now the cats out of the bag.  And it’s a BIG one!

“I am pleased to announce the gift from the trust of Francies Gaines Blum Slagle totals $2.68 million, said East Central President Dr. Billy Stewart at a 3 p.m. press conference.

The Late Mrs. Blum Slagle is a graduate of the school and requested all the money be used for scholarships.  But, Dr. Stewart says East Central is going to take her generous donation one step further.
“It is the colleges intent to use the interest earned from this largest single private donation in our college’s history to fund a guaranteed tuition scholarship during the fall and spring semesters of the freshmen year for every high school graduate residing in the five county service area of East Central, and who enroll in classes here.”

Details for both scholarships are still being worked out.
