BILOXI, Miss.-- Reports came out last night that a child had been hit by a vehicle on Highway 90 near Biloxi while walking.
The extent of the injuries at that point were unknown according to WLOX.
The only thing that was known according to them was that the boy was under the age of 14 and was walking with his family.
This morning the Sun Herald has an update that spells out the worst-case scenerio for the D'Iberville native.
The boy that was struck was nine-years-old and died of his injuries at the hospital according to police.
Reports say that traffic had stopped in one lane for the family to cross and as the boy passed from one lane and into another he was struck by oncoming traffic.
The boy's identity hasn't been released and the accident is still under investigation.
UPDATE: The Sun Herald reports the name of the boy was Blake Terrell and he was 8-years-old.
