ALCORN COUNTY, Miss.--The 11-year-old boy who was shot by his father in what cops believe was a murder-suicide has died. The Alcorn county coroner says Andrew Lloyd passed away Thursday at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. He was flown there after both he and his father were found shot early Wednesday.
Alcorn County Coroner Jay Jones said, "Apparently his father, which was Billy Loyd Jr., had left a suicide note on Facebook."
It was too late though.
Jones added, "And by the time they got out there it appears the father had shot the child and committed suicide."
Authorities told media Thursday they believed 51-year-old Billy Lloyd, Jr. was in financial trouble. He had posted that info and funeral arrangements on Facebook before the shootings. Neighbors in the Farmington community heard the commotion.
The elder Lloyd was dead at the scene. Andrew was still alive, but in critical condition when they were found. Billy Lloyd's body was taken to Jackson for an autopsy.
