HATTIESBURG, Miss.--Two state inmates are on the loose after a 5 p.m. Saturday escape from the Forrest County Community Work Center. The Mississippi Dept. of Corrections did not offer details on how the men got out, saying in a news release only that men "left" the facility.
Twenty-two year-old James Robert Martin is a white male, with blonde hair, blue eyes and weighs 150 lbs. He was serving a five-year sentence for grand larceny from Monroe County.
Twenty-six-year-old David Bass is a white male, with blue eyes, blonde hair and weighs 180 lbs. He was serving a 7-year sentence on five burglary convictions from Lee County.
Both men were last seen wearing their state inmate clothing, green and white striped pants, and white MDOC shirts, with MDOC Convict printed clearly on the back.
Corrections did not speculate on where the two may have gone. Both men appear from recent MDOC photos to now have shaved heads and be very similar in appearance.
