JACKSON, Miss.-- There were multiple hit and runs on the Mississippi roadways over the weekend with one of them happening in the state's capital.
The accident happened on Highway 80 in the first few hours of Sunday morning.
Officer Colendula Green says, "According to witnesses they noticed a black male laying in the roadway."
Green explains how he came to rest there. "A vehicle that was heading eastbound on the highway struck this individual, and proceeded on."
Officials tell News Mississippi they're looking for a "black vehicle, with tinted windows" related to the case.
And a strange detail that cops have yet to figure out with an autopsy is the victim had a gash on his head prior to the accident that they can't explain yet.
No name has been given out yet according to Officer Green because the next of kin has yet to be notified.
