Inmates Back in Custody, Caught Living It Up

HATTIESBURG, Miss.--The two inmates who left the Forrest County Community Work Center Saturday are now back in the custody of the Miss. Dept. of Corrections. Twentey-two year-old James Robert Martin and 26-year-old David Bass were caught by U.S. Marshals Tuesday.

The two were caught in a Bourbon Street bar in New Orleans. Details of the capture were not immediately available, other than marshals got a tip on where the two were.

Martin and Bass are now suspected in the stabbing death of 95-year-old Ada Smith and the theft of her car after their escape. Warrants were issued by the Lamar County Sheriff's Dept. before their capture.

Martin was serving a five-year sentence for grand larceny from Monroe County. Bass was serving a 7-year sentence on five burglary convictions from Lee County.
