Harmon, 20, was struck multiple times by vehicles as she walked along Hwy. 61 in Bolivar County about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
We have gotten multiple accounts of what may have happened. Authorities now say they believe Fulgham was ultimately responsible for his girlfriend's death.
“Our agents, deputies of the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department, MHP’s crash reconstructionists and forensic scientists of the Mississippi Crime Laboratory have worked tirelessly to reach this point of the investigation,” MBI Director Lt. Col. Larry Waggoner said. “Investigators working closely with the District Attorney and after presenting evidence and test results from the lab, an arrest warrant was issued and Fulgham was taken into custody.”
We spoke with Shelby's mom, Angie Harmon.
Shortly after the investigation began, friends and family created the Facebook page "Justice for Shelby", which now has over 25,000 likes.

I pass the sheriffs office everyday, on way to work & on the way home.... I will honk everytime, just so shelton knows we aren't giving up. We ALL still support JUSTICE FOR SHELBY!!!!
As Matt and me were driving home from the emergency room I called my mom to tell her what the doctor said. She then told me that Shelton had been arrested. As soon as I got off the phone and told Matt, we both looked up at the same time and saw a shooting star. I can't help but think that was Shelby saying "thank you" to everyone and showing me that she is still watching over us. I know that he still has a trail ahead of him, but the first step to justice has been served. We did this all for you, sweet Shelby. We stood up as friends, family, and a community and made this happen. Everyone will sleep a little bit sounder tonight knowing that he is locked away and can't harm anyone else. Though I did not know you personally, Shelby, I love you. You've brought so much good into the town of Cleveland and even in other states. You've brought people who had grudges drop those and come together as one voice. THIS IS ALL FOR YOU SHELBY! Rest in peace, sweet angel.
Thank God above for the best news we've had in 10 days! Shelton Fulgham has been arrested and charged with Felony Vehicular Homicide! Step one....accomplished! On to a probable, long journey to a trial. I am ready and willing to be present in the courtroom each and every time Shelton is present there!I will conduct myself in a respectful, Christian manner, but he will be forced to look at my face until the day he graces the penitentiary with his presence! This will not bring my precious child back, but it will prevent him from harming another person!
Thank You ALL for your prayers and help in pushing this forward. We will FOREVER be grateful! May God bless you all, including the family of Shelton Fulgham! Please don't hold them responsible. They are hurting and need prayers , too! I, nor my family have any hard feelings towards them.
