JACKSON, Miss.-- Mississippi now has a signifying marker for the state at the Alamo.
Most people would not associate the Alamo with Mississippi, but not so says Senator Chris McDaniel.
"Mississippi actually had eight people that died fighting in the Battle of the Alamo."
McDaniel says many other states have signifiying markers there to remember their lost soliders.
"During our travels there we had noticed Mississippi did not have a permanent marker like the others, so we raised the money, went out there and placed the marker, " he added.
During the 13-day Mexican seige the youngest person to die was a 16-year-old boy who was actually from Mississippi.
After the Mexicans won the Battle of the Alamo, the Texas Revolution ended a little over a month later when the Texas Army won the Battle of Jacinto in April of 1836.
