Davis Stays in "The Voice" Competition, Survives "Knock-out" Round

MADISON, Miss.--Mississippian Liz Davis has survived a critical round on the NBC competition "The Voice". The Madison native and Madison Central grad went up against Gracia Harrison, a fellow competitor, singing "Gunpowder and Lead" by Miranda Lambert.

Davis chose Blake Shelton as her coach earlier in the competition.

One website, unrealitytv.com, said in a blog that Davis was so good, three coaches fought over her early in the competition. The site provided this transcript:

Blake Shelton: I’m not going to sit here and try to sell myself to you as a country guy. Sorry, something’s poking me in the back here, it’s actually my ACM award. I’m not sure what it’s doing here. As you listen to the mirage of crap that is going to enter your ears from these two, I do have connections in country music. That is all.

Christina Aguilera: Country may not be my first genre, but I was the first to push my button for you.

Adam Levine: Before you starting singing, I wanted to turn around right then. I think you’re wonderful. Clearly you’re beautiful. It’s about the voice and you have it.

The challenge now is to survive the remaining weeks on the show, with the goal of not only winning the competition, but going on to a career of recording and performing.
