Sandy Relief Workers From Mississippi Didn’t Lose Chance to Vote

JACKSON, Miss. -- After learning last week that dozens of Mississippians were heading to the east coast to help restore power following Hurricane Sandy, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann became very concerted that they likely didn’t have time to vote.

“So I got a list from the power companies- from Entergy, Mississippi Power, and the others- of who all was sent to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and whatnot,” he said.

Then Hosemann got busy working with their local circuit clerk officers.  “And then we federal expressed, to a hotel in Pennsylvania where they are stationed out of, all of their ballots.  And they voted Friday night and federal expressed them back.”
As a result, about 200 of those workers were able to vote.
