Soon after the fracas, which had at first been reported as a riot on Twitter, someone Tweeted a pic of an Obama/Biden campaign sign being burned. It is still unclear if that picture actually came from Ole Miss.
Then, Tweets from the Daily Mississippian, the student paper, confirmed the disturbance, saying there may have been racial slurs and some rocks thrown.
Next up was a video from NewsWatch99, the campus TV station. That video has students talking about someone threatening the use of pepper spray, but it wasn't clear if the students were talking about cops.
The crowd was dispersed shortly after campus police found out about what was happening, according to most sources. What was clear is that there was a group that was not happy about the outcome of the election.
