Mississippians Wakeup to Freeze Warnings

By: Knox Graham

JACKSON, Miss.-- The coldest morning so far this fall across the state will greet them as they step outside this morning.

After what was considered a summer-esque weekend by many, the mercury has dropped significantly for Tuesday morning.

Meteorologist Joanne Culin says, "Well there are freeze warnings in effect for locations along and north I-20 until 8 a.m. We are seeing some locations at and below freezing this morning."

This means in many areas where water is still present after the system that moved through Mississippi recently will need to be mindful on roadways and bridges where ice could form.

No rain chances are present anywhere in the state today so Culin says it should warm up a bit once the sun tops out.

"Conditions will warm up this afternoon. We're looking at highs mainlin in the low to mid-50's."

Culin says this calm weather pattern should continue the rest of the week with clear and cold conditions at night with lots of sun during the day.
